In my lessons I draw on a wide range of influences from around the world, from the old fingerstyle guitarists of the 1920’s, through the electric revolutionaries of the 60’s, to the post-modern rockers of today.

Meet your instructor
Hello and welcome!
My name is Mischa, I’m a musician, filmmaker and personal trainer living and performing mainly around South London. I was born in the U.S.A., grew up in the Netherlands and moved to the U.K. in 2013 to explore the endless possibilities London’s music and art scenes have to offer.
I grew up listening to a wide range of different genres, from the Beatles to West- and North-African desert blues, North-American soul, Cuban jazz – you name it. It sparked an enduring love of all kinds of music, and I began playing guitar at age 11. I currently play guitar, bass and sing in various bands covering a broad range of genres.
I’ve been teaching guitar for over 10 years and love helping my students to connect with and express the innate passion for music that so many of us have. In my lessons, I focus on achieving the musical freedom to play any song in any genre and connecting my students with their own – invariably unique – way of playing. I also incorporate movement theory such as the Alexander Technique to prevent injuries and bad habits. I teach some music theory, but focus on the versatility and freedom that come with learning to play by ear.
